Christmas trees are a holiday staple for those who celebrate, but look in the woods and chances are you’ll find a Christmas fern to complement the traditional festive greenery. Specifically, THE Christmas Fern: Polystichum acrostichoides.

Women Take to the Trails
Lace up your hiking boots and bond with fellow female hikers as we cruise the trails. We’ll observe the landscape as it transforms from summer to fall, enjoying the foliage along the way.
Color Hike
Start the season with an autumnal color hike, where we’ll look for the full rainbow of fall foliage. Be prepared for a moderately difficult hike through Hidden Valley. Wear appropriate hiking footwear, bring sun protection, bug spray, water, and a snack.
Labor Day Hike
Say goodbye to summer with us as we take to the trails. Join Elissa Schilmeister, Environmental Educator, for a wide-ranging hike. We’ll keep our ears out for end-of-summer sounds, like cicadas, crickets, and more.
Please don’t feed the ducks
Tossing a few crackers or scraps of bread to a passing duck may seem like a harmless pastime but feeding wildlife has a range of consequences for our feathered friends. Help us keep the wildlife that use Teatown’s waterways happy and healthy by keeping our food out of reach.
Women Take to the Trails
Lace-up your boots and join one of our Teatown educators in our women’s hiking club! All welcome, whether novice or experienced. Expand your horizons, learn more about nature, and bond with fellow female hikers. Each week we will hike a different Teatown trail and make plans for new territory to explore.
Pollution in the COVID World
Many nature centers, preserves, parks and hiking trails, welcomed record numbers of visitors with a skeleton staff. With visitor safety in mind, overcrowding, trail conditions and sanitation were all evaluated and became a priority. Teatown experienced a huge increase in out of area and first time visitors.
