About Scott

Scott Mason began writing haiku in 2001 a decade or so after first learning about it on a hiking trip in Japan. In the years since he has been the recipient of over 150 haiku awards. More than 20 of those awards were first place finishes in international competitions, including those sponsored by the national haiku organizations of the United States, Canada, Britain, and Ireland. In 2009 Scott was flown to Kumamoto, Japan to accept the International “Kusamakura” Haiku Award, and in November 2014 he served as an Artist-in-Residence at The Studios of Key West. Since 2010 he has volunteered as an editor with the haiku journal The Heron’s Nest. Scott is also a member of the executive committee of the Katonah Poetry Series, now in its fiftieth year, near his home in northern Westchester County, New York.
