George’s Island – Montrose
Sponsored by Saw Mill River Audubon
With the cold weather and ice forming on the river, the wide expanse of the Hudson at George’s Island is a great place to view eagles as they fly, and sometimes ride the ice up and down the river! The trees on the wooded hills provide shelter for eagles coming in to rest. Saw Mill River Audubon volunteers will be on hand to locate and identify eagles and waterfowl at this eagle-popular site!
Directions:
Take Route 9 North to the Montrose exit. Then, take a left onto Route 9A North, followed by another left onto Dutch Street. Follow Dutch Street to the end.
Echo Canoe Launch – Croton
The waters of the East Branch of the Croton River meet the tidal waters of the Hudson River at the Echo Boat Launch making it an ideal viewing area for spotting bald eagles on the hunt for fish and waterfowl. Join Teatown and Saw Mill River Audubon to search for eagles and other birds as the tide changes.
Directions from the South:
Take Route 9 North to the Croton-Harmon exit and turn left. Take another left into train station and drive to the end of the parking lot to the boat ramp.
Directions from the North:
