An annual rite of summer, the North American Butterfly Count is a way for all butterfly enthusiasts to partake in a citizen scientist monitoring effort. Join Charlie Roberto to locate and count butterflies on the preserve. Participants should be prepared to hike over rough terrain. Ages 6+.

The “Wildman” Returns! Foraging for Wild Edibles

America’s go-to guy for foraging, naturalist/author “Wildman” Steve Brill, will lead a 2.5 hour foraging tour sharing his skill and passion for wild edibles. Teatown is a rich natural area full of edible and medicinal wild plants and mushrooms. The trails that encircle the lake guarantee an abundance of many common late summer herbs, greens, berries, and fungi. Please dress for the weather, with closed toed shoes. For everyone ages 12+.

Telltale Tracks

Some very interesting tracks have been found on the grounds around the Visitor Center. What tales do these tracks tell? Using clues and a map we’ll search for the animal that left the clues for us to follow, and have fun solving a mystery. For families with children 4-6 years old.

Shake off the winter blues at Teatown! The week will be filled with games, crafts, and outdoor activities to energize the housebound child. Dress your child appropriately for the weather.
