The youngest nature lovers use their senses to explore the natural world in these weekly classes featuring visits with Teatown’s animal ambassadors, crafts, stories and short hikes.

Investigate the plants and animals in three different habitats in this series for the adventurous explorer – pond, stream and field. Nets set. Ready, go!

This three day intensive experience mixes survival skills and nature awareness for the adventurous spirit! Maggie Pichura, Teatown Senior Educator and certified NYS Guide will lead your child through daily exercises to gain new understanding of the natural world and build self confidence in the outdoors. Learn and practice skills like shelter building, fire by friction, cordage making and finding and purifying water. Concepts like the rule of threes and leave no trace will be covered.

Let’s get hands and minds to work in this STEAM inspired program! Each session will focus on building in nature in creative ways. Using imagination and natural materials as our guides, we will explore and build animal shelters, beaver dams, and whimsical fairy homes.

Join Elissa Schilmeister at Cliffdale Farm for morning explorations of field and forest. August is the time of singing cicadas, monarchs on milkweed, cool forest retreats and the fullness of late summer.

Before it’s time to take on the challenge of the school year join the Teatown educators in 3 days of exploring Teatown’s habitats. We will visit fields, forest and wetlands, trek the trails and search for animal signs and traces. Nets ready? Set and go!
