Wilderness Explorers (Ages 10-13)

Teatown 1600 Spring Valley Rd, Ossining

This three day intensive experience mixes survival skills and nature awareness for the adventurous spirit! Maggie Pichura, Teatown Senior Educator and certified NYS Guide will lead your child through daily exercises to gain new understanding of the natural world and build self confidence in the outdoors. Learn and practice skills like shelter building, fire by friction, cordage making and finding and purifying water. Concepts like the rule of threes and leave no trace will be covered.

Nature’s Builders (Ages 4-6 with Caregiver)

Let’s get hands and minds to work in this STEAM inspired program! Each session will focus on building in nature in creative ways. Using imagination and natural materials as our guides, we will explore and build animal shelters, beaver dams, and whimsical fairy homes.

Mushrooms of Summer

Join Leon Shernoff, respected mycologist and the editor of Mushroom, The Journal of Wild Mushrooming, as he returns to Teatown via Zoom to share his expertise. Learn the basics of fungi morphology, how to identify common mushrooms of the season, and the role fungi play in our ecosystem. If you have never walked with Leon on Teatown’s trails, this series will give you plenty of information to begin mushrooming on your own.
