Professionals from the Cornell Cooperative Extension, Ecological Research Institute and NYS Department of Environmental Conservation spoke about invasive insect pests at a train-the-trainer workshop on Monday, April 3 at Teatown Lake Reservation.

30 people attended this workshop offered to partners and associated volunteers of the Lower Hudson Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (PRISM). Presentations included information on the identification, management and emerging threat level of the following pests to our region: viburnum leaf beetle, sirex wood wasp, oak wilt, southern pine beetle, winter moth and thousand cankers.

Another workshop on forest pests will be open to the general public, municipal leaders and members of conservation boards this summer (date TBD) and continuing education credits for ISA certified arborists, NYS licensed pesticide applicators, and NYS Landscape Architects will be available as well. Please stay tuned for the date!
